Dr. Ari Koeppel's expertise lies in remote sensing and thermodynamic modeling applied to problems in land surface processes, geology, and near-surface atmospheric science, on Mars and Earth. At the interface between sky and ground, rocks record stories of past climates and the exchanges of life; analyzing surface materials allows us to read that environmental record and understand the history of and possibilities for life in the universe. Ari works with the Perseverance Rover team and has also been conducting fieldwork in the Arctic to study permafrost processes.
