Hi! I'm Emma, and I am a PhD student working with Dr. Marisa Palucis. I am interested in Planetary Geology with a focus in planetary surface processes and analogs. I am fascinated with seeking to understand the history of a planet by looking at its geology, and I enjoy using science to interpret features we see on other planetary bodies based on what we observe here on Earth. Field work is a big part of my interests, which I combine with remote sensing to analyze various scientific questions. At Dartmouth, I will be studying sediment transport on Mars by looking at basalt pebbles on Gale Crater and comparing them to similar pebbles at field sites in Iceland and Hawaii, as well as in-lab flume experiments to simulate the observed transport scenarios. Outside of the lab, I am an avid hiker, reader, baker, and watercolor painter!
